CHIMEnews (Children’s Internet Music Education Newsletter) is the official newsletter of the CMHOF. The purpose of the Book Review column is to review books, e-books, and e-resources for children and for the use of those who work with children. In the beginning the newsletter will carry 2-4 reviews in each issue – two issues a month to begin. All reviews will be archived and available to newsletter subscribers.
Length of review -- 200-400 words. The reviews may be shorter or longer (not too much longer). The length of the review will be determined by the need to fully explain and evaluate the resource or book.
Our newsletter audience consists of librarians, families, parents, caregivers, preschool and elementary school teachers, music teachers at any education level, and anyone who cares about quality music for kids and schools. While some older children will certainly be interested in reading our reviews, the interest and reading levels for all reviews is adults.
Ratings: The CMHOF site uses a five star rating scale, as will this column. Only the very best will get five stars. One star is reserved for the “buy only if you are desperate category”.
